SAP Director – Big 4 Consulting
Role Overview
The SAP Director is a senior leadership role responsible for client account growth, large?scale SAP delivery, and market leadership within one or more industries (e.g. C&I, Financial Services, Energy, Life Sciences, Public Sector).
The role sits below Partner / Managing Director and carries significant commercial accountability , including revenue targets, sales leadership, and oversight of complex SAP transformation programmes (often €10m–€100m+).
Key Responsibilities
1. Client & Commercial Leadership
Own and grow strategic client accounts with SAP?centric transformation agendas
Lead originations and deal shaping for SAP S/4HANA, RISE, ECC carve?outs, greenfield and brownfield programmes
Develop compelling value propositions tied to industry outcomes, not just SAP implementations
Be accountable for revenue targets (typically £3–10m / €4–12m p.a. depending on firm and geography)
Act as trusted advisor to CIO, CTO, CFO, and transformation sponsors
2. SAP Programme Leadership
Provide executive?level oversight of large, complex SAP programmes:
S/4HANA transformations
RISE with SAP
Global template rollouts
M&A carve?outs and integrations
Ensure delivery excellence across:
Scope, cost, schedule, and benefits realisation
Risk, dependencies, and escalations
Sponsor programme governance with client steering committees and boards
3. Practice & Capability Development
Shape the firm’s SAP strategy across technology, industry and delivery models
Build and grow SAP capability , including:
Senior hires
Centre?of?excellence development
Nearshore/offshore integration
Develop joint go?to?market initiatives with SAP and hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Contribute to thought leadership, eminence, and market positioning
4. People & Leadership
Lead and mentor Senior Managers, Managers and Architects
Sponsor careers of high?potential SAP leaders
Set the cultural tone for delivery quality, inclusivity and collaboration
Act as counsellor / career sponsor for senior SAP practitioners
Required Experience & Background
Core Experience
12–18+ years of SAP consulting experience, ideally within:
Big 4
Tier?1 SI
Leading SAP boutique
Proven leadership of large SAP programmes (£10m+ / €10m+)
P&L, sales, or account ownership experience at Senior Manager / Director level
Deep understanding of SAP S/4HANA landscapes and transformation approaches
SAP & Technology Expertise
Strong knowledge across:
SAP S/4HANA (Finance, Logistics, Industry solutions)
SAP Activate methodology
RISE with SAP and cloud ERP models
Able to bridge business and technology , not just delivery mechanics
Experience working with SAP senior leadership and alliance teams
